Welcome to Portland's Community Forestry Web Page.
Our page outlines the various services offered to Portland residents
and tree related informational links.
The Forestry Section of the Public Services Department
has been managing Portlands shade and ornamental trees since
the mid-1800s. Our municipal community forest consists of
thousands of street-trees, along over 300 miles of public roadways
on the mainland and our island communities on Peaks, Little Diamond,
Great Diamond and Cliff Islands. We also maintain park & public
grounds trees in our city parks and public grounds. Trees add
great value to our community making Portland a better place to
live, work and visit.
Portland, Maine has received the Tree City USA award
from the National Arbor Day Foundation since 1978.
